 Chamaedorea seifrizii is a relatively small graceful palm with densely clumping, bamboo-like stems and feathery fronds. Canes can be up to 1cm (0.4 inch) in diameter. The delicate-looking, lacy leaves 60-90cm (24-35 inch) long with leaflets up to 38cm (15 inch) long at the top of slender, cane-like stems that cluster together. Leaf colour is a deep bluish green.

The Maranta leuconeura species has some of the most strikingly beautiful, decorative leaves in the plant kingdom. The popular tricolor variety has deep green, velvety leaves with yellow splotches down the midrib and arching red veins traveling to the leaf margins. A well-grown Maranta should have full, six-inch-long leaves rising from a short center stem and draping down. Native to Indonesia, Borneo and Sumatra, the palm requires a tropical location to flourish. It grows best in USDA hardiness zones 11 to 12. The tree does not tolerate temperatures that dip below 55 degrees Fahrenheit, and prefers a location with high humidity.
